Cubism- Style 3

Cubism was a early 20th century movement that revolutionised European painting, sculpture and a lot of other arts. It also inspired related movements in the other arts such as music, literature and architecture. The Cubism movement was considered one of the most influential art movements in the 20th century. Cubism is the third style I have chosen, I have chosen it because a lot of the art produced under this style is very unique and different to a lot of other art pieces I see. I find the style and subjects under this style are more fascinating then other art works I have seen this is why I have chosen this style.

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso is a cubism artist however the art work that I like the most of his is his collage pieces. I found this artist through my drawing unit however I found his work very unique and something I wanted to explore further. I like his work because how different I find it and having not seen anything similar. I also like how his work is colourful and a little chaotic and yet the instrument has detail and realism to it, I also partially like how the strings are collage and are actual pieces of string. The collage is another reason for me liking this artist because I like how it appears mixed mediums because the instrument pieces look as though they have been done in pastel. Another reason I like this particular piece is because some of the collaged pieces like the music sheets like with the instrument.

My work is his style:

"Cubist Sunflowers" by Ana Maria

The cubist sunflower is another cubist art works, the artist is Ana Maria Edulesca. I found this particular piece real interesting, I found its bright colours draw me in. I also like this artist and her work because of its contrasting background and foreground which makes the art work as a whole stand out, the blue of the back round work really well with the yellow of the flowers. I am unsure of the medium but I believe it is a painting either in acrylic or oil. Although cubism is new to me and something I have never really tried or experimented with, I am hoping to recreate this as flowers or vase.

Final Piece

Final Piece-Research 1

For my Cubism final piece I have decided to go for yellow Flowers in the style of one of my own list. Due to it being Cubism I have decided to also call for yellow Flowers with large petals in order to get the Cubism style and I think a flower with smaller and more petals will take away from that. I’m also wanting a gradient in these pals so when I do my final outcome even though it is Cubism I still want a realistic look to the flower.
Final Piece-Research 2

For the vase in the final outcome I have decided to go for a block colour similar to the bottom image in my research, the reason for this is because not only do I think it will fit better with the cubism style but I also believe to will not take away from the flowers which I want to be the main focus in this outcome. For the style/shape I have went for something similar to the top right image in my research because I think this one is the one I like the best out of all the shapes in my research.
