Drawing Module.
What is Drawing to me. Start of the Year
What is Drawing to me now.
Drawing to me is may different things in lots of different mediums. The first thing it is to me is a sketch or a plan for example in a painting or a sculpture it allows for you plan what your going to do and allows for you to placement different things in a placement as well as allowing you to get the scale current particularly in a painting in order to get a more realistic aspect. Another thing drawing is to me is a way to capture things because drawing is allow a way to create a piece in itself both in colour or just graphite pencils. I also believe drawing is many different mediums such as pen, pencil, ink and sometimes paint depending on how the paint is used.
Drawing to me now is both similar and has changed. drawing is still lots of different mediums. Its about practicing for other art and sketching ideas, but now it is also about building my confidence and knowledge which helps me get out of my comfort zone for example it helped my to go into portraits and faces which may not have been something I would have been confident enough to do with out the practices and trails. I is also about being able to capture when on the move for me now allow me to draw and capture things I may have not been able to before. Although drawing is still about the different mediums and if you can draw with it, its a drawing. Drawing has also become of of my favoured areas of art since I have practiced with it more and although I still love painting, drawing has become I now gravitate more towards.
Project 1 Room Brief

The image on the left is the image I finally went with and the final outcome. It is a reflection of the room through a mirror that is the reason for the rubbed out areas in order to try and create an understanding of the reflection and portray it in the piece. I went for colour because the other two tries where in black and white and weren’t portraying the room the way I would have hoped therefore I opted for colour too see if it would create a better image. On the right are my other tries before settling on the finally image. I didn’t like these as much because they didn’t turn out as well the top image was a quick sketch in that mannerism in order to map out the shapes. The other image is a more detailed drawing however it was focusing on one piece too much and was taking away from the image and I prefer the colour.

Project 2 Alternative Drawings Materials

The first drawing on the left is a coffee cup that is made with browns and coffee colours. I have also painted the background with coffee. Coffee stained background. The shadow of the cup is also made by staining the background with coffee in multiple layers. The second drawing is a rubber made by rubbing out pencil on the background. The third image is a book with book pages stuck to the background and tea stained to make it look aged because the books that I drew is a old book. The final drawing is a candle holder that has been drawing with pen and white. The candle in the holder is made of wax and the holes in the page have been burned through, these are positioned where the flame would be.
Project 3 Detailed Close Up Drawing

This is a tea light candle that I have drawn in black and white. This is my up close detailed drawing. I have draw this from observation.
Project 4 Detailed Colour Drawing Close up & Digital

This is a coloured version of the black and white close up detailed drawing that I have done. I have also done a digital version where I took a picture of the coloured drawing and edited the image into different colour too see how it would look in the different colours. I have place the six colours side by side in order to create one large collage of the six edited photos.
Project 5 3D Drawing.

_JPG.jpg)
My 3D drawing a vase. I chose a vase because I can come back to this drawing and do different things with it for example I am currently using it in a digital drawing for my own art and to help me with my digital skill. I liked this project practically because I haven’t done much 3D work and a lot of my work is either 2D drawings or other forms such as painting. I created it out of card and cut each side and them taped them together and then panted over this. This 3D drawing is about 50cm by 50cm. When I have finished the digital drawing that I have done with this drawing I will add it also.
Project 6 Continues Line Drawing.

The sixth project that I did in drawing was the continues drawing project. I again like this one and found it very unique and different with it as own challenges that I have never faced before in my art. For example making sure it flows right and the sides match up. One of the biggest challenges for this is deciding on the subject and I final went with some images I had taken of landscapes and sort of blending them into one and adding a few bits like the mountains in order to give the piece more and also allow a better foreground and background. I found this new and interesting and may be soothing I come back to, because I liked it so much. One of the main reason I liked it so much is because I was able to pick it up and down which I found great when on the go and allowed me to think about the next piece before doing it.
Project 7,8 Cubist Collage and Drawing.

My cubist collage and drawing of the cubist collage is a violin. The cubist collage was created using tea staining, collage and pastel pencils. I began with sketching the violin and then staining the paper both on the violin and around it to create a shadow with the staining. I then proceeded to shade the violin with the blue pastel pencil in association of the actual violin being blue and then used a music sheet for the collage, the music sheet was violin music and believed it would work well as well as being similar to another artist I took inspiration from Pablo Picasso. He also used music sheets when creating music instruments collages. For the pencil drawing I simply copied the image in graphite pencils and tried to make it seem realistic but also a copy of the collage.

Project 9 Self-Negotiated Project.

The self-negotiated project really helped me with my other unit, especially in practising and getting ready for my finally outcomes. The first image on the left is a detailed tree drawing I did in association in the landscape pages and to practice landscapes and especially the parts of landscapes. It is done with graphite pencils and one of the drawings I really enjoyed and is something I have done before however I believed I needed a bit of practice before moving on to final pieces especially my felting outcome which’s main focus in the tree. The second two images of the city scape outlines are practises that I did for the samples on the cityscape page. I did practices of the outlines because cities is something I don’t really work with or look into because they are not usually my subjects therefor I believed I needed to practice before doing the sample for this page. The drawings or don with black sharpies for the outline and coloured pencil lightly on the sky in order to give some colour. The next image is a drawing for my felting outcome it is a test before making the water colour design for the final outcome of felting this practise allowed me to get a better Idea how I was going to do my final outcome as well as bring all the research together without worrying about making a final design however I decided I liked this layout and I stuck with it eventually. The next image along is a copy of my friend that I had photographed and I did it in pencil for the portraits page as well as in practice for my cracked painting which is a portrait. This one in practically helped me a lot when it came to doing the final piece because before then I had not really done any portraits and was quite out my comfort zone and I thought it best to practice before doing the portrait in order to not get frustrated. Finally the last image is two tree barks that I did in practice similarly to the tree for the landscape page as well as the felting pies in order to decide on the type of tree I wanted to go for. In the future I believe I will do these types of practices in order to help me in my art both in my project but also my personal art work.
