Felting- Style 2

For the felting style I am hoping to get artists and create work that is landscapes or nature related because I believe I would work really well as landscapes or nature such as trees, flowers or leaves. However if I were to find an artist that I found particularly unique with another type of subject matter I may use that style. “Felting is the process of turning loose wool locks or wool roving into a piece of fabric or object by connecting the individual fibres. Some ways are for example on a piece of felt or fabric, connecting the fibres together to make a flat image without fabric under the image to connect it too. These would really well for what I am wanting to do because they would be good for landscape and images. However another way is 3D this is where you use polystyrene or something to connect the fibres too to create the 3D object such as a animal or ball.

Tracy McCracen

Tracy is a felting artist and is working in the style I was hoping for, she is a landscape artist. I find work truly fascinating especially because this is the first felting artist I have looked into as well as the first time looking into felt or trying to create in the style. I do however find it fascinating especially her work because she is able to create amazing work using wool fibres. These pieces of art work look as though they have been painted this is a credit to how detailed they are and how unique they are. I am hoping to create a piece of art work in her style and she may also influence the final piece in this style.

Annie Brown

The second felting artist I have chosen is Annie Brown because I really like her work and her style was something I was looking for when I went for felting as my second style. I really like her work because of the overall aesthetic and style. I like her subject because although simple it works really well because of the colours and the contract of the trees. The foreground and background of the image contract really well the foreground the trees is a dark colour and the background is often quite bright which contrasts, this however dose bring the tree more depth and the centre of the attention in the pieces. I also the little bit detail of the ground it makes a little more realistic and adds to the aesthetic of the whole piece. I will hopefully create something similar.

Final Piece-Design

The watercolour painting to the left is the style in the which I am going to base my final outcome on however I may differ slightly and change it a little, this is something I will work closely with but it is only inspiration and a guide base the piece of as well as collecting all my research together in a uniform way. The research will also help me if I decided to change it a little because it would allow me to see a something similar.

Final Piece-Research 1

I will and have used this research and images to inform and help create my final outcome in the felting subject. I first used these images to help inform my watercolour painting, which is there to help set out how I am going to do in my final piece, although not exactly the same. I will still however still refer back to these images when completing the final pieces if I should change soothing or need a bit more examples. In this subject I also wont use one of these images as a direct copy like I had do with one of the portraits in my last subject, this I because I am hoping to use more of my imagination for this one.

Final Piece-Research 2

These image have informed my watercolour piece that will help to inform my final outcome. The top and bottom images on the left have and will help to inform my work because of there style and bark colouring, I prefer the lighter colour however I was originally going to do a darker colour bark similar to the top right however I believe the white and lighter colour bark will help to bring the tree forward into the foreground compared to the darker bark which may get a little lost into the background with all the other colours from the bushes and grass. I am hoping to bring the tree forward because I want it to be the main focus of the final outcome. However I did use the top right to inform my work because it I how I wan the tree to look like, a little bare and contorted a little. I am going to make it bare because I believe again it would make it bare because I believe again it would make it blend and be pushed into the background.
