1. Great Artists In Their Own Words

The film “Great Artists In Their Own Words” is a fascinating film and has opened me up to artists and pieces I had not seen before and offers more insight to the changing of art and the changes it has been through. The film is also truly fascinating because it describes the change of art from the art we see before the 20th century which is largely realism and all about capturing and more often then not about art being tailored to richer classes that could afford to be painted or to buy these paintings. It show the rise of art that we know today such as expressionism it also allowed the new inventions such as photo and film to be accepted and allowed into the art world. The change was mainly brought about by the opinion that art was becoming outdated and in my opinion it was because the new things brought about weren’t accepted into art such as photography. The film tells us about the art revolution and how the artists of this time rejected the idea that art has to be a unique or physical object, there opinion brought about the big change in art and allowed for more experimentation in art that we see today. It talks about how many artist focused on the creating rather than the outcome or the galleries and because of this many left the galleries behind and focused more on the art, which before this revolutions was not as widely done because a lot of the time the art that was created was directed and selling and being bought by the rich. The driving of the art into the world allowed for more recognising and seeing of this art by people that before now wouldn’t have really took much interest due the fact the art was often just for the upper classes in society. Therefor I truly liked this film because it allowed and opened my eyes to how the art world changed and changed for the better and instead of the focus being on money or galleries the art world today is better off being more focused on the art and its making.
